About Renée Woodall
Retirement is one of life’s biggest transitions.
For more than 25 years, I've helped people navigate change, uncertainty, growth, and new chapters in life. Through retirement coaching, I help individuals and couples approach retirement with greater clarity, confidence, and intention.
Retirement is often something people spend years looking forward to. More freedom. More flexibility. More choice. More time.
And yet, even positive change can be challenging. Because retirement isn't simply a change in schedule. It's a change in identity. A change in routine. A change in relationships. A change in how your days are structured and what gives them meaning.
For some people, retirement feels exciting and energizing. For others, it feels surprisingly unsettling. And for many, it's both.
I've spent much of my professional life helping people navigate significant transitions, and one thing I've learned is that change can be really hard.
The transitions that go best are often the ones approached with intention. That's especially true in retirement.
Change isn’t easy…
even when it’s “good”.
Whether retirement is approaching, already underway, or well established, you want this chapter of life to be more than something that simply unfolds on its own.
You want to approach it thoughtfully. To create a retirement that's aligned with your values, priorities, relationships, and hopes for the future.
If that's why you're here, you're in the right place.
You're here because the years ahead matter.
WHY I BECAME A RETIREMENT COACH
Throughout my professional career as a psychologist, I've had the privilege of helping people navigate some of life's most significant transitions. It's work I've found deeply meaningful.
Over the years, I began noticing something that stayed with me. Many people would seek support several years into retirement after struggling with questions about identity, purpose, relationships, direction, or how they wanted to spend their time.
Again and again, I found myself wondering:
What if they had come sooner?
What if they had approached retirement with the same level of thought and preparation they brought to other major life decisions? What if they had intentionally designed this chapter before years of struggle, uncertainty, or disappointment had accumulated?
Those questions stayed with me.
The more I reflected on them, the more I realized that retirement coaching offered an opportunity to help people in a different way.
While much of my professional work has involved helping people navigate challenges after they arise, retirement coaching allows me to help people proactively prepare for one of life's biggest transitions.
It's an opportunity to help individuals and couples create clarity before they feel stuck. To think intentionally about what they want this season of life to be about. To design and build a retirement that reflects their values, priorities, relationships, interests, and hopes for the future.
Because retirement isn't just about leaving something behind. It's about intentionally creating what comes next.
How I work:
At the core of my approach is a belief that the most fulfilling retirements are intentionally designed and built.
Not because life can be perfectly planned. But because clarity and intention help us make the most of the opportunities ahead.
I don't believe retirement is about filling your calendar or staying busy for the sake of staying busy. I believe retirement is about creating a life that reflects your values, priorities, relationships, interests, and vision for the future.
One that feels meaningful. One that feels enjoyable. One that feels like yours.
Using the Retirement Architecture™ framework, we'll explore the areas of life that contribute to a fulfilling retirement, including:
Identity & Purpose
Values & Priorities
Lifestyle Design
Relationships
Community & Connection
Physical, Mental & Spiritual Well-Being
Daily Rhythms & Routines
Fun, Adventure & Experiences
Legacy & Contribution
Together, we'll create a blueprint for the life you want to build. Because retirement isn't about finding the "right" way to retire. It's about creating a retirement that's right for you.
Retirement Coaching with me is…
-
A space to slow down, reflect, and explore what matters most.
-
Focused on turning insights into meaningful action and real-life change.
-
We'll work together to create a retirement that fits your unique values, goals, and vision.
-
A supportive process that helps you move forward with greater confidence and clarity.
-
While we may reflect on your experiences, our focus is on creating what comes next.
-
There is no one-size-fits-all retirement. Your blueprint should reflect you.
A Little More About Me
Outside of my professional work, I'm a wife and mother of teenage and young adult children. I'm a sister and the adult daughter of aging parents. Like many of the people I work with, I'm actively navigating life transitions of my own and thinking about the seasons ahead.
I've had the opportunity to watch people I love experience retirement—the joys, opportunities, challenges, and adjustments that often come with this stage of life. Those experiences continue to reinforce my belief that retirement is too important to simply unfold by default.
I've come to believe that retirement isn't a chapter to drift through. It's a chapter worth approaching with thoughtfulness, curiosity, and intention. In fact, I fully intend to do the same work I guide clients through when my own retirement years arrive.
When I'm not working, you'll often find me spending time with family, walking with a friend, or enjoying good conversation over coffee.
